Things to be said or unsaid.
Things I wish I’d said:
- I decide when, who, and what I say. If I don’t want to engage, I’m not going to.
- I will protect myself how I see fit.
- No one controls my emotions but me.
Things I regret saying:
Everything. When I open my mouth all the words that come out are rearranged to fit your narrow narrow narrow ideas of what an inspiring, brave, and compassionate brown survivor is. You project all your hope and expectations of what a good brown person is onto me. And now I feel dirty and used.
